Vera Berardi,  in art ‘Vera Vera’, is a multifaceted artist born in ’96. The first thing that strikes us is a simple phrase that she uses to describe her monumental ceramic works

‘I work big scale to remain small’.

Talented ceramist, Vera Berardi works mainly through sculpture and her work exhibits giant figures: – they are adults – she says – imperfect adults, mutants and with evident chromatic discolourations. When I make art, I unconsciously work on myself and on my identity. Identity is a reflection, especially at a time when we are bombarded with images and social judgment. By doing something big, I go back child.

We spoke to Vera Berardi after discovering her sculpture “vera vera” entitled “The Bathers”. The large permanent installation is her first public work created for the municipality of Bellaria. The artifact represents two figures lying on a rock and is located at the roundabout at the intersection of viale Pinzon and via Properzio, in Igea Marina.

It is very astonishing to learn that the artist realizes this work at just 19 years old, moving alone in the bureaucratic meanders of the public reality of Bellaria (his municipality of residence) and manages to place his first creation covering all expenses. A young and enterprising, sweet and sensitive girl who has found an indissoluble personal value in art: herself.

Vera Berardi tells us that her love for sculpture was born almost by chance, after meeting some artists who, with simplicity and technical skill, ignited her desire to approach ceramics. From the start, Vera Vera worked with passion on identity and figurative. Her works are now publicly visible permanently.

The “Vera Vera” sculpture by a multifaceted artist

Vera Berardi is graduated in Sculpture at the SantaGiulia Academy of Fine Arts in Brescia, then she attended the first year on Biennium in Contemporary Visual Arts. Her research investigates family and social relationships, analyzing their influences in the definition and construction of identity.

Her artistic career is expressed in sculptural and performative practices, working on the principles of defiguration, disfiguration, denial of the ideal of the canon and also in the cathartic staging of trauma. Both areas of language develop the focal themes of her research.

Vera Berardi and social experimentation

Currently, she is experimenting with new techniques and different materials always inherent in the sculptural and pictorial sphere. You can see all her creations on her Instagram page.

Her latest work entitled Venus – also exhibited on the occasion of Art city, in Bologna and which we present on the coveris the three-dimensional representation of the bust of Venus by Botticelli on which a “technological intervention” was made that activates the interaction ” online ”of the user. Through the use of Instagram, the artist invites the public to interact with her: you can then communicate your words and these can be imprinted on the bust of the work using mobile characters. The sculpture, like all of them, is stained on the left side of the face: it shows a double personality, the multiple, the “social mask”. An electronic board is positioned and incorporated in the neck of the sculpture, isn’t it a beautiful example of contemporary art and research?

Vera is a multifaceted artist, therefore, who approaches her different work by approaching different techniques that go through painting, experimentation and self-analysis. Her works are self-cures suggested by the unconscious and she tells us that her are “visions that bounce” until they are realized.

“Art is so powerful because it communicates through images .. in this way it affects the unconscious directly ..”

Over time Vera Vera has created several other public works, one above all, the monumental one composed solely of clay, now positioned in Bienno inside the “Parada” – the new redeveloped area of the historic center. – Find the photo in our gallery – The artist tells us about his creation entitled “ONE”:

“The amazement of the first nocturnal impact when lights of houses on the mountain conform to stars in the sky, the suggestion of tales of men who have always worked the iron collected in the belly of the mountain. The magic of a primordial ferrous meteorite which, falling, connects heaven and earth are the principle and history of ONE. “

We are fascinated by the disruptive magic and determination of Vera Berardi who, not even thirty years old, has applied a simple but basic concept of artist: love for creation and awareness of not being able to live without it. She loves art in general, it is clear when she talks about “beauty” and the collection: when she can, she buys the works of those she values - a little taken for granted act that makes Vera Berardi a humble and courageous girl, moved by a “true true” (Vera in Italian) passion

Attualmente, sta sperimentando nuove tecniche e diversi materiali sempre inerenti all’ambito scultoreo e pittorico.
